Giant Cell Tumor Network

Hi everyone!!

I have returned with my tumor removed!! I just wanted to wish those who are having surgery the best of luck..
and those on drug trials i hope theres some good news for you..

well i ended up having an acetabulem placed in my hip because the hip replacement wore my bony acetablulem down to cartilaige, Also they found another tumor and some cysts which are currently still being tested. i have to go back next week for follow up results. I am on crutches following hip precautions (to be honest i havent!) and now i am paying for it with terrible muscle pain. The thing that really makes me very sad is that i have a major leg length difference which has added to my deppression. I think about 2 to 3 cms difference.

For a girl its something quite disturbing as us girls love shoes!! I guess i cant complain reality is that other people are in wheelchairs and on crutches for the rest of their lives, I should count myself lucky..

well thats all for now thought id let you know how i am going, and thanks to those for the goodluck messages..

Hey Dolina,
I'm in PT right now, and it's really going pretty well. However, during my last visit, my therapist Dennis told me that I have a leg length difference as well. He measured me out, and it's 3.5 cm. He said that it's "functional" rather than "major." When I asked what that would mean in terms of shoes and comfort, he told me it's no big deal and suggested that I see a podiatrist to get inserts for my shoes--that I would certainly be able to wear heels again and be able to continue my long and happy relationship with my shoe collection.
On a sadder note, because of my inflexibility in my ankle, I wasn't able to wear my uggs because I couldn't get them off. At least it's summer time now;thank god for flip-flops.

Follow Your Hip Precautions!!!!!! Everytime I forget mine I end up in pain for at least a day. I am in physical therapy 3 times a week now for 4 weeks. It is going well because I have noticed a major difference in my recovery since the PT. I know what you mean about the shoes! My doc told me no heels. I almost started crying right on the spot. I live in heels. But, as you said we are lucky to be walking.
