Profile Information

About Me:
25, Artist. Trying to find my place in the world after education and my life were halted due to tumors and surgeries. I'd love to find my way back to school.
How do GCTs affect you?
GCT patient
Location of primary tumor:
end of left femur, under knee
Date of diagnosis of primary tumor:
september 05
Treatment of primary tumor:
Well, I was mis/undiagnosed for so long that I fell on my way to the doctor and broke my femur. It was so destroyed that a metal plate and 9 or so screws were needed to stabilize and put it back together. The tumor was removed and filled with cement.
Facility treated at for primary tumor:
MGH Boston
Would you recommend this facility and it's Doctors to another GCT patient?
very much so!
Recurrence? If so, where?
Same place, exactly.
Date of recurrence:
June 07
Treatment of recurrence:
Well, surgery to remove it. My doctor's been a little less than forthcoming as to what he *exactly* did. ;) The metal was all removed (unbelievably less pain now!!!), someone's fibula is hanging out in my femur, stabilizing it.
Facility treated at for recurrence:
MGH again
Would you recommend this facility and it's Doctors to other GCT patients?
Of course, just expect a wait of 30 minutes to 3 hours for your appointment, bring a book or music
Tumor free?
GCT free as of 9/19/07, unfortunately I still have a uterine fibroid that's recurred
Current GCT Status:
watching it, hoping it doesn't come back this time!

Took a little fall

Really, it was a tiny fall. I fell to my knees trying to keep two waring cats from fighting (we're trying to integrate them, one snuck up while I was letting the other out). My good knee is absolutely fine, but the bad isn't so much. First the pain was on the kneecap and a sort of 'too-stretched' feeling from maybe extending the bend of my leg (which only goes to 110/120 degrees now) by falling on it. But since I fell on monday (today being friday) all pain has disappeared from the kneecap (exce… Continue

Hi Ash, remember me? We emailed a bit a while ago.
I just found this forum, great to see you here and that you are doing well.
My tumor hasn't recurred, luckily..
Been tumor free since feb-06.
My psyche is going up and down, have become all hypochondric, thinking I have all kinds of deseases.

Hope you are good..
take care,
xoxo
