I went to Dr. O'Donnell at UCSF yesterday. He does not think I have a GCT, but rather an enchondroma, which is the equivalent to "nothing". I don't need surgery or even a biopsy. They will just watch it with x-rays every 6 months for a few years. I am totally relieved that I don't have a GCT and don't have to suffer through all that comes with GCT. I had an MRI of my left knee in mid January 2008 due to pain and a suspected tear of the medial meniscus. I had an unacceptable level of pain while skiing. In additional to the meniscal tear, the MRI showed a 2cm x 2cm tumor in the head of the fibula. Then I had x-rays and a bone scan. After the bone scan, the radiologist called it a suspected GCT.
